Community Service

Adopt a Highway SignEach resident is required to perform 50 hours of community service prior to release from OJRC. Service will expose the resident to projects, activities, and populations that they traditionally do not have access to, such as working with the mentally challenged, nursing homes, and community and civic organizations.

Projects include Adopt-A-Highway clean up, work at Barkcamp State Park, Belmont County Beautification program, and services at various county and state entities, (i.e. nursing homes, churches, etc.). Residents also assist the kitchen staff with cleanup responsibilities and dish-washing.
